In this episode of „Simply sayed (said)” - Podcast Series, we start from a simple sentence: life is good, and life is what we make out of it. What is being made out of it right now is a whole mess — made by people who know exactly what they are doing. We talk about it because it concerns every one of us, and because it keeps going as long as everybody stays quiet.
Two pictures for it. The first: if you don’t know how a wheel comes off, you don’t take it off — to build something or to take it apart, you have to know how it is put together. So whoever does it knows what he is doing. The second: if somebody says he is taking off the steering wheel so you drive better, only somebody who doesn’t know you need a steering wheel to drive will believe him. Living is no different: it needs its conditions — food, water, the basics.
Everybody knows that, and whoever sits in government or in an office all the more — you don’t even run your kitchen that way. When the basics get smaller year after year, it is neither an accident nor incompetence, and not just indifference either. If you don’t feed your dog, you know it dies. Behind it stands an attitude: we don’t need those people, and whoever has nothing left can be gotten rid of. It runs organized and on target, and the pandemic years made it visible.
It hits every single one of us, no exception: housing nobody can afford anymore, until people end up on the street; people who need medical help or support, sorted out. Where it ends can be seen in the children of Iran, Syria and Palestine.
Telling yourself tomorrow all will be fine again does not hold. What has been running one way for years keeps running to the bitter end if nobody stops it. Doing nothing means supporting it, and only condemning it does too. One alone can’t turn it around, but together we are more, and we can fix it. A good living we make together — or not at all.
